This work has been a collaboration with Snøhetta in order to find a solution for a vertical garden at a location with a quite extreme climate. Summertime the daily highs are steadily over 45 degrees C. The project covers an area close to 900m2 for the outdoor areas of this new cultural center. The large scale allows for plants of many different character and size. An ensemble of dramatic cascading species, sculptural shrublets, lively grasses, compact ground covers and some larger, voluminous shrubs – together constituting a varied garden rich in experiences.

The design takes inspiration from several different nature types, such as coastal mediterranean shrublands, the intensly flowering Karoo region rich of ice plants and the local desert flora.
