Begonias are great for a vertical garden. Many are easy to grow and there are plenty of hybrids available with a rich variation of foliage, color, size and growth habit. Especially for indoor gardens, where few plants offer profuse flowering, the varied foliage of begonias can be a welcomed colorful addition. The following images are all from Peru. Taken on the east side of the Andes at altitudes between 2000-2900m.

The dense cloud forest doesn't offer many opportunities for direct sunlight, but this sun loving begonia reaches out over a river to see get some blue sky.

Typically, the leaves of a begonia are asymmetrical.

The daily dose of direct sunlight can be brief.
